KENT WEEKEND

NONINGTON (2.30 start)

The village of Nonington is approx 8 miles southeast of Canterbury. Suggest exit London on M2, or use M20 and cross to M2 from junction 6 on M20.

NB that the road which links the M20 (junction 6) and M2 (junction 3) is the A229. I recommend not exiting from the M20 at junction 7 and using the A249,as the annual Kent Show takes place at Detling this weekend and there are often long queues.Once at the end of the M2, continue on A2 past Canterbury. After about 4 miles, turn left (north) on to the B2046. After a few hundred yards take the first right which should be signposted to Womenswold. Follow signs through Womenswold and Snowdown (note former coal-mining works) to Nonington. You are now in Holt Street and the ground is to the right, just before you reach the Royal Oak pub on the left. The Royal Oak does good lunches but it is worth getting there early as they can get crowded and the service becomes slow.

SHELDWICH (2pm)

From either London or Whitstable, get on to M2. At junction six, turn south on A251. After three miles, you pass a church on left. 200 yds
further on, turn left at sign to Sheldwich Lees. Road takes you direct to village green and cricket pitch.
